A Southwest Airlines flight leaving Havana for Fort Lauderdale filled with smoke after an apparent bird strike, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing. In a separate incident, a jet passenger died after his flight experienced severe turbulence over New England. NBC’s Tom Costello reports for TODAY. ***EDITOR'S NOTE: An earlier version of this video incorrectly showed a photo of a jet company that was not involved in the incident. That photo has since been removed.***March 6, 2023
