A look at the AR-15 assault rifle’s place in America after attack in Orlando


The bullets that tore through the Pulse nightclub in Orlando came from an AR-15 style weapon. The AR-15, which can fire up to 45 rounds a minute, is one of America’s most popular guns used mostly for hunting and target shooting. Today, Americans own 5 to 10 million of them. They’ve been used in at least 14 mass shootings in the U.S. NBC’s Tom Costello reports for TODAY from a gun range in Virginia where the AR-15 is popular with customers.
