‘We’ve never had a vaccine approved this quickly,’ doctor says

In the wake of an independent FDA advisory committee recommending the use of Pfizer’s vaccine, Dr. Richard Besser, who led the CDC’s effort against the H1N1 pandemic, tells TODAY that “there was an overwhelming feeling that this is a very safe and effective vaccine and that the FDA should approve it.” He says that “we’ve never had a vaccine approved this quickly and that will raise a lot of concerns for many people,” but add that he’s confident about vaccine distribution despite predicting some “speed bumps along the way.”
