Carrie Cariello’s son Jack has autism, and this year she had to take him out of the public school that his brothers attend and enroll him in a school better suited to meet his needs. It broke his heart, and as she comforted him, Carrie wrote this essay for the TODAY Parenting Team to all his classmates who would go on to middle school without Jack.
