Soon enough, Keith Urban will be sitting down, offering up advice and criticism as a returning "American Idol" judge. But as he proved on the TODAY plaza Tuesday, he can be even more electric when he's up on his feet and rocking out.
Urban celebrated the Sept. 10 release of his first album since 2011 by performing "Little Bit of Everything" and "Even the Stars Fall 4 U," and also took time to chat briefly with TODAY's Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. As he explained, the new album is "a good expansion on our sound," noting that he worked with songwriters and producers he'd never collaborated with before.
"It's a whole new energy," he said.
And then he proved it by launching into his songs!
