Colonel Meow is the Internet's most famous feline dictator — and now he's receiving support from his thousands of "minions" as he battles health problems in the hospital.

The 2-year-old kitty, who secured a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for Longest Fur on a Cat in August, has already survived a dangerous surgery and blood transfusion, according to a Facebook post written by his owner Ann Avery on Monday.

"Minions!!! Colonel needs YOU," she wrote. "He has been in the hospital and the doctors don't really understand what's wrong with him."

Avery followed up with a tearful video post on Wednesday, telling Colonel Meow's fans that "his heart isn't doing the greatest things right now." She also thanked them for all the well wishes and support they've received from people around the globe.

"To hear things from people all over the world who love him as much as I do helps me get through every day," she said. "I might be a crazy cat lady, but I don’t care. I am waving my freak flag high."

Colonel Meow has quite a few cheerleaders: His Facebook page, which has over 230,000 fans, lit up with encouraging comments from followers since his illness was announced, and many more have taken to Twitter to express their condolences.

The Himalayan-Persian crossbreed became an Internet hit earlier this year when Avery and her husband, Eric Rosario, started posting pictures of Colonel Meow and his beloved scowl on Facebook and Instagram. He's since become characterized as a fearsome dictator with a penchant for sipping on scotch.
