Why is it that I can spend an hour fussing with my hair, and I still look like I just rolled out of bed and ran to work in the rain? Because I have no idea what I'm doing, and my ineptitude was made only more apparent after I got the chance to meet and have my locks blessed by Ken Paves, hairstylist to the stars, while modeling in a Wednesday segment on hair extensions along with a couple other TODAY staffers.
You'd think the man who's besties with the likes of Eva Longoria would be a divo, but it turns out, he's actually a really nice guy. I want him to be my bestie. He even complimented my "before" hair (dear hair: I will never yell at you again, until tomorrow, when Ken isn't there to deal with you acting up).
What's amazing is how fast he works – teasing and pinning and popping in this oh-so-silky Princess Jasmine ponytail in mere minutes. It was sheer magic.
Watching him work on TODAY host Savannah Guthrie was even more unbelievable. He put her extensions on during a commercial break – seriously – and she walked back out on the plaza two minutes later looking glamorous and loving her new style.
"I love it! I have grown quite fond of her (my hairpiece). I may even name it," Savannah told TODAY.com. "Seriously, what girl doesn't dream of long locks? Ken Paves was great and I loved our TODAY show staffers looking so great as our models."
Oh Ken, if only you could be summoned to keep me looking Jasmine-like forever, it would indeed be a whole new world.
