Emma Stone's shoulder-sweeping red locks are long gone!
The famously crimson-hued actress (who's also be known to sport blond locks) stepped out in Malibu Sunday and debuted a new look that includes blunt bangs and a dark brown color.

From the front, the shiny new style looks close-cropped, but a peek from the side reveals there's more in back — a short ponytail.

The makeover — which makes Stone nearly unrecognizable — wasn't simply a fashionable whim. Sure, it's a fun new look, but it's all for her latest film.

Stone is currently shooting "Battle of the Sexes," wherein she plays tennis great Billie Jean King opposite Steve Carell as Bobby Riggs. And speaking of makeovers, take a look at Carell's '70s sideburns!

When Stone wraps up that movie, she might have an even bolder new style to show off. She's set to don the iconic black-and-white 'do as she takes on the title role in Disney's upcoming live-action villain flick "Cruella."
