In case you missed Meredith's emotional farewell this morning on TODAY (read about it here, watch the amazing Carole King performance here, and check out the details of the TODAY team's awesome tribute), there was a moment where she revealed her lucky charm -- a gold bracelet given to her by her husband right before her first day as an anchor some five years ago.
It bears a message of support from her husband, Richard, and her kids -- "We are with you -- Love, Richard, Ben, Gabe and Lily."
"That's the reason why I'm leaving," Meredith said, referring to her family. "But this is about the TODAY show," she said. "So I'm taking it off at the end of the show.
"And then," she added, "I'm going to pawn it."
Which was a joke, of course: She quickly promised she'd keep it somewhere safe. She's not the only one who constantly carries a cherished accessory: Hoda Kotb never takes off her Forward Ring, a reminder of her triumph over breast cancer.
