Meghan Trainor is "All About That Bas[e]" color of reddish-brown auburn. The singer, who is known for her catchy hits and long blond locks, debuted a brand-new cut and color on Instagram Thursday.
Trainor captioned the pic of the new style, "NEW ALBUM, NEW HAIR." She also thanked her stylist, Lorien Meillon, who works out of the Ken Paves Salon in West Hollywood and has worked with Trainor for a year and a half.
"Her next album is coming up and it's absolutely a beast," Meillon told TODAY. "It's going to be an incredible album. It's such a change from her old album that we wanted to have her look match that."
The look didn't exactly happen overnight, though. Instead, Meillon explained, "It's actually been a process." In order to get the best look, Meillon changed Trainor's hair in "baby steps."
The pair decided to go red after they loved how Trainor looked in a red wig she wore for a music video shoot.
It's "dimensional red," Meillon said of Trainor's new hair color. It's darkest on top and has cooper and gold-brown tones throughout.
And Trainor's verdict? She told Meillon, "I was born to be a redhead."
Meillon is happy for her friend and client. "She's on fire. She's super happy."
Trainor's new album will come out later in the spring, and if our reaction to the new hair is foreshadowing our reaction to the new album, we're gong to love it!
