Couture collections are a highlight on the fashion calendar, often featuring luxurious, fabulous fashion with a bit of wacky thrown in. At this week's fall-winter 2012 couture shows in Paris (July 1-5), designers didn't disappoint. Take a look through some of our favorite designs and let us know in the comments below which you like best.
Christian Dior
Dior's show is always hotly anticipated but this year, with the debut of new designer Raf Simons, excitement was running even higher than usual. There was plenty of black featured, along with red and yellow on simple and elegantly cut dresses, jackets and pants.
Jean-Paul Gaultier
Gaultier's show is always a couture week highlight for fun, out-there designs. This season the feted designer featured top hats, along with plenty of collars, chokers, fur and lots of black at this dramatic show.
Chanel
Light grey, pink and silver were the colors of the day at Chanel. Suits and dresses featured plenty of feminine touches like ruffles, while sparkly silver tights were shown with many of the shorter styles.
Giambattista Valli
It was floral patterns and ruffles galore at Italian designer Giambattista Valli's show on Monday. Deep reds and greens were popular with most of the dresses featuring high collars and wide skirts.
