For W magazine’s second annual "The New Royals" issue, the periodical features stars from movies, music and fashion in highly stylized shots. From Hollywood A-listers who've already made it big to rising stars who are just getting their break, W deemed these celebrities reigning royalty in their respective industries. Think long-time actress Claire Danes and "Girls" star Allison Williams.
Six famous faces appear on the cover with completely transformed looks. Julianne Moore rocks high-fashion fur (with a hairstyle similar to Magenta from "Rocky Horror Picture Show"), while the usually reserved Allison Williams goes full-on punk.
Adorably kooky indie actress Greta Gerwig, who stars in the recently released "Mistress America," gets a ladylike makeover while Claire Danes' sleek look is replaced with a California beach babe vibe.
Model-of-the-moment Jourdan Dunn (who has appeared in Beyoncé music videos, high-fashion runways and billboards nationwide) ditches her well-admired ombré locks for a blunt-cut bob with bangs while actor Adam Driver looks sharp in a suit. Mary J. Blige, Iman and Jamie Lee Curtis also made a fashionable appearance in the October issue.
While Julianne Moore is considered royalty in W’s eyes, the Oscar-winning actress offers another name to take the imaginary throne.
“To me, [fashion designer] Tom Ford is royalty. I met him when I was nominated for an Oscar. I’d just had my son, Cal, and I had really big boobs and I didn’t feel like myself. Tom made me a beautiful dress, but I didn’t wear it because I felt like my boobs were too big. He didn’t care, and we’ve been friends ever since,” Moore told W.
