Internet erupts in debate over the color of these sneakers

Just like #TheDress, these sneakers have divided the internet. Are they pink and white, or gray and teal?

These sneakers accessorize perfectly with #TheDress when it comes to dividing the internet in a color controversy.

Are they pink and white, or are they gray and teal?

The sneakers are the latest accessory to start an argument, more than two years after a debate over whether a dress was blue and black or white and gold melted the internet.

The Dutch Twitter user who posted them indicated that they are not her shoes, but weighed in on the side of gray and teal.

She has several others taking her side.

But there is also a faction arguing hard for pink and white.

One user argues that the shoe is pink and just looks gray because of bad lighting and a low-quality camera.

And finally there are the people who can't decide and it's making them crazy.

The shoe appears to be a retro women's Vans sneaker, which has the listed color of "mahogany rose" (or, pink) on the Vans website. So maybe that settles it.

In addition to these sneakers, since #The Dress, we've now had arguments over the colors of an Adidas jacket, a pair of flip flops, a handbag, and a Nike outfit.

As explained in the original mania over #TheDress, there's a reason so many people see the same thing differently.

"It’s a perception issue. It's the way the brain processes information that comes in,” eye surgeon Paul Dougherty told TODAY in 2015. “Everyone's brain is different, so even though it's the same stimulus coming in, which it is, everyone processes the information differently."
