When it comes to her wardrobe, the Duchess of Cambridge is a master of sophisticated-chic, and on Friday, TODAY anchor Savannah Guthrie took a style note from across the pond.
Savannah rocked a gorgeous eggplant lace top that reminded us of the beautiful dress Duchess Kate wore several months ago in the same color. The deep purple color is big trend in the fashion world right now, as Marsala was named the color of the year in 2015 by Panetone.
And while we love the trendy color choice, it's actually the lace that had us talking.
These two women prove just how versatile lace can be. Often thought of as a material for summer wear and dressy occasions, lace can be worn just about any time of year. All you have to do is go with a darker hue rather than your typical white or cream.
To get the biggest bang for your buck out of a lace, you can try a variety of styles.
Tops like Savannah's make great additions to your work wardrobe when paired with a simple black pencil skirt or pants.
A dress like Duchess Kate's is all about the style.
A tighter, more form-fitting dress makes for the perfect party outfit.
But if you go for one that just has subtle lace accents or a fit and flare cut, it can suddenly feel office appropriate.
The same goes for skirts. A lace pencil skirt with a midi hemline makes the ultimate sophisticated look, but shorten the hemline, and maybe add a little sparkle with accessories and you're ready for a night out.
And if you're really feeling like going all out in lace, try rocking a jumpsuit.
