Get Stuff We Love
Fall is that glorious time of year when it's warm enough to bare your legs, but cool enough to also wear some layers. Basically, it's just right.
While sweater weather is great and all, sometimes you need an outer layer that's warmer than the denim jacket you wore all summer, but not quite as warm as your snowstorm-ready parka. However, finding the perfect in-between coat can be challenging, even when you're in New York City, one of the shopping capitals of the world.
Both my mom and I spent most of the early weeks of fall shopping for "the jacket." We went everywhere from Zara to Bloomingdale's to local boutiques, but neither one of us had any luck.
It wasn't until my mom took a peek in Uniqlo that we discovered the coat we had been searching high and low for over the past few months.

Ultra Light Down Compact Jacket, $50, Uniqlo
The Japanese brand's ultralight compact jacket is just what it sounds like. It's super sleek and lightweight, but warm enough to keep you cozy when the temperature drops below 65 degrees. It comes in a variety of colors, too, like navy, dusty pink, olive green and black.
You can wear it over your favorite T-shirts when it's feeling brisk outside or with your favorite cozy sweater for chilly days.
Personally, I love how lightweight it is. I can even tuck it into my tote bag without it taking up too much space on days with unpredictable weather. When winter fully arrives, I might even tuck it under some of my favorite jackets to make them even warmer.
