As someone who’s constantly cold, it’s always sweater season for me. I’m that person who complains about air conditioners and sits outside at lunchtime in the 90 degree heat to thaw out, so I’ve pretty much always got a sweater on hand ”just in case.” Fashion is always at the forefront of my mind, but comfort also ranks pretty high, so whenever I find a sweater that’s both chic and insanely comfy, I get excited. That’s what happened when I stumbled across Barefoot Dreams’ Bamboo Lite Calypso Wrap a few years ago.

To put things into perspective, this wrap is the closest I've ever come to wearing a blanket. It's insanely soft and cozy (you can thank 20 percent rayon from bamboo for that) and covers much more real estate than your typical sweater, so you can wrap yourself up in it just like a blanket. Lest you picture a tacky Snuggie scenario, the Calypso Wrap is fashionable and chic thanks to its draped lines and open cut.

The Calypso Wrap quickly became a wardrobe staple for me because I love items I can repurpose in multiple ways. I’ve paired this cozy sweater with dress pants and a blouse at work, with a form-fitting dress, and with leggings and a tee at home, so I’ve gotten a ton of mileage out of it. My sweater’s black and it goes with everything but it also comes in a range of fun colors.

For $92 at Nordstrom, the Calypso Wrap isn’t cheap, but that’s true in more than one way because it’s really well-made. My sweater has withstood repeated washing over the past two years (I also love the fact that it’s machine washable!), and it’s still as soft as ever. When I think back to all my impulse $15 sweater buys and how few of them lasted more than a few seasons, it just reinforces the idea that sometimes quality is better than quantity. It’s also got 1.2K likes on Nordstrom, so I don’t think I’m alone in my views!

Whenever I buy clothing, I like to think about how many seasons I can wear it through so I make sure I get my money’s worth. Lucky for me, the Calypso Wrap works well all year long, except super hot days, of course. It’s light enough to wear as a sweater but also warm enough to serve as a light jacket on early fall days.

I’m partial to this sweater, but it’s also become one of my most complimented items of clothing. It seems like I get a compliment every time I wear it, and that alone is worth the $92.

If you aren't convinced, here are some more affordable options to get the look for less!

It should be noted that despite the name, this poncho is made out of faux cashmere. Regardless, over 400 positive reviews on Amazon say this sweater is a must-have. And, it comes in over 12 festive colors!

This lightweight jacket is made of comfortable material and comes in seven vibrant colors. As one reviewer stated, "Personally, this might just be my favorite cardigan EVER. I ordered the gray in a XL. I'm a chunky 190 pounds and just over 5'4". This is soft, and feels like a thin sweatshirt, heavier than a t-shirt. I'm absolutely loving this sweater for fall. The length is perfect."

This oversized, boyfriend-style sweater is chunky and perfect for layering. It would even look nice over a dress if you live in a warmer climate!

This would also make a perfect gift for mom or grandma for the holidays! If you are shopping for people on your list, check out our gift guides, or make shopping easy with our interactive ultimate gift guide!
