Davines This Is An Invisible Serum

For those looking for a serum that’s lightweight and helps define your natural curls, consider this Shop TODAY Beauty Award-winning product from Davines that can be used on dry or damp hair.

It’s extremely lightweight and I love that you only need a small amount to get the job done,” says David Cruz, a New York City-based celebrity stylist. “I prefer to use it on dry hair, once the style is set, which keeps the frizz to a minimum and maintains the look throughout the course of the day.”

K-Gloss De-Frizz Serum

For an easy, quick way to beat frizz, opt for this K-Gloss serum, which works after applying one to two drops on your palms and working it through your hair, according to the brand. It also promises shine without the heavy feel that typically is associated with nourishing hair care products.

Best hairstyling creams for frizzy hair

Alterna Haircare Caviar CC Cream

This Alterna cream is a 10-in-1 product that delivers tons of great benefits — for starters, it’s said to provide moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability and strength. While it’s not necessarily listed by the brand, New York City-based hairstylist Juan Carlos Maciques also loves this product for taming frizz.

“Fixing frizz requires hydration, and this product delivers just that. It works to replenish moisture and contains restorative ingredients like vitamin C to fight environmental aggressors,” Maciques says. “As an added bonus, this cream offers heat protection so you can blow-dry to your heart’s content.”

Kusco-Murphy Lavender Creme

If you love the smell of lavender, you won’t be able to resist this hair creme from Kusco-Murphy.

“I discovered this lavender-infused pomade when it was gifted to me on set,” says Crystal Cook, a Los Angeles-based hairstylist. “It’s now my No. 1 product for frizz and flyaways because it works on every hair type and the scent is subtle, not overpowering. I add a little to my clients’ hair right before we shoot to create extra shine.”

Best anti-frizz sprays

Sun Bum Anti-Frizz Oil Mist

Made with “good stuff” such as kukui nut and tamanu oils that work to protect your hair against heat and humidity, this anti-frizz spray works on all hair types, from thin to thick, straight to curly. “This product has been a great option for added frizz control this summer,” one five-star Amazon reviewer wrote. “The spray...works great and it’s easy to evenly distribute the product, with enough control that I can make sure I’m not directly spraying my scalp and overdoing the oil.”

Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray

Oribe’s Anti-Humidity Spray protects sleek blowouts and curls alike by shielding your hair from humidity on the hottest of days.

“This spray is definitely my go-to anti-frizz product because it controls the hair while maintaining softness and movement. I prefer to brush the product through while the hair is still wet, which helps give it perfect definition,” says Claudio Belizario, a New York City-based stylist.

This product is so popular it was also recommended by a few other stylists who described it as a “must-have.”

Condition 3-in-1 Hairspray

If you’re on the hunt for a hairspray that will eliminate frizz without the dreaded crunchy feel, look no further.

“This is one of my all-time favorite products to get rid of frizz,” says Sarah Potempa, a New York City-based hairstylist. “I discovered it while I was working with an editorial fashion stylist who loved the flexibility of this spray. I could use it all day to create multiple styles and the hair never got crunchy and was still so touchable.”

R+Co Foil Frizz + Static Control Spray

Polish your damp hair by misting it with the R+Co Foil Frizz Plus Static Control Spray to control flyaways.

“Frizz and shine products can be greasy and have a tendency to weigh hair down, but that doesn’t apply to this lightweight spray,” says Salvatore Malafronte, a Boston-based stylist at Salon Mario Russo. “It prevents static, flyaways and frizz while creating soft texture and adding shine to all hair types and styles. Just be sure to hold the can a good 12 inches away from dry or damp hair so it distributes evenly.”

Kerastase Discipline Fluidissime Complete Anti-Frizz Care Spray

This Kerastase product offers extra shine, smooth locks and anti-frizz protection for up to 72 hours, according to the brand.

“I discovered this while looking for something lightweight to prevent frizz around the hairline and crown. I love it because it’s strong enough to last through a humid Florida night out and allows me to create volume without oily aftereffects,” says Jahzel Montana, a Miami-based hairstylist at the Sean Donaldson Salon.

Frequently asked questions

How should people pre-treat their hair to avoid frizziness?

Chabbi recommends using heat protectant primers and oils that make the hair "a bit heavier and more frizz-resistant."

If you know it’s going to be humid, what else can you do to protect your hair?

According to Chabbi, humid weather typically means your hair can handle more products. But she emphasizes how important it is to let the hair fully dry after application before entering a humid environment. When you let the hair fully dry, it allows the hair follicle to seal which will in turn lock out any moisture that could lead to frizz.

What's your advice for quickly fixing frizz that appears throughout the day?

Chabbi says the best solution is actually a travel-sized oil. This way you can retouch the exact area in need of some love.

Are there any frizz-fighting tips for washing your hair?

Using an oil before shampooing can protect the hair from dryness, Chabbi says. “That way, when shampoo is rinsed [out], the oils protect the ends and the hair looks healthier and less frizzy.”
