It was a gorgeous late summer Thursday, and the TODAY plaza was packed with eager fans ready for a new look. Good thing the Ambush Makeover team of celebrity hairstylist Louis Licari and TODAY contributor and fashionista Jill Martin were ready to turn up the heat on two lucky ladies' looks.
Lenise Melton, an accountant, and mom of two, was ready to shake up her usual minimal makeup and super-long brown hair. Sheryl, her best-friend of 52 years, woke her up at 5:30 a.m. so they could head to the plaza in time for Lenise to have a chance at a makeover. Looks like Sheryl's plan worked!
Lenise's big reveal left Sheryl speechless. Her jaw dropped to the floor as she saw her longtime friend's new look.
"Oh my word! That's not even me!" exclaimed Lenise as she beheld her new look for the first time. She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw how gorgeous she looked!
Just in time for 60th birthday, Bonnie Amend was anxious to start a new decade with a new look. A library clerk with two daughters, she was ready to say goodbye to her gray locks on a birthday trip to the Big Apple. And even before being made over, she already got one of her birthday wishes: She had always wanted to be on the TODAY show. Thursday was her lucky day!
As they took of their blindfolds, Bonnie's daughters and husband whooped with excitement, all smiles and cheers as they saw her new look.
"Oh my!" said Bonnie as she got her first glimpse of herself. She was so surprised that she had to move closer to the mirror to make sure she was seeing things correctly. Sixty never looked so glamorous!
With their dramatic new 'dos, these ladies are taking over the city in style!
