Get Stuff We Love
What do you do when you’re celebrating your birthday in New York City? Head to the plaza and get an Ambush Makeover, of course!
Celebrity hairstylist Louis Licari and TODAY Style Squad member Jill Martin plucked two women from the plaza who were very eager to get a new look for their birthday week. We can’t think of a better birthday gift than a morning of pampering, away from the cold weather.
Jan Stull
'Is that really me?' This retired nurse loves her Ambush Makeover
Feb. 8, 201805:25Jan Stull is a retired operating-room nurse who spent 44 years helping others. Now, it was our turn to help the 65-year-old from Tampa, Florida, look glam for her visit to the Big Apple.
“After 44 years in the OR and being in scrubs, she really does need this and deserves it,” her daughter Katie told Martin.
“I am so excited. My dream come true!” Stull added.
This is what dreams are made of!
“Glamorous!” Hoda Kotb exclaimed after Stull showed off her stunning makeover.
Stull pointed to the mirror and asked, “Is that really me?” She was in shock, but in the best way possible!
Igor Musayev gave her a stylish haircut, and Licari added highlights and covered her grays.
Martin dressed Stull in a Clara Sunwoo top and a pair of jeans from James Jeans.

Susan Forsythe
Susan Forsythe, 60, from Austin, Texas, planned her entire trip around getting an Ambush Makeover. It's a good thing that our Ambush team chose her this morning!
“She started dropping hints about three months ago that it would be really nice to be able to get a makeover on (her) birthday,” her husband, Will, said.
Will had an awesome reaction to his wife’s new look: “Ooooooooooooh, wow! Terrific!” He especially loved her new, shorter hairdo. Licari gave her normally blond hair a red tone.
Forsythe was equally as excited: “Wow, my God!”
Martin put her in mixing and matching pieces, including a top from Chico’s and a pair of NYDJ jeans.
She was hoping to flaunt a new look around town, and now she can. Watch out, Manhattan, here comes Susan!
