17 rose-infused skincare buys that prove no other ingredient is as sweet

Stop and smell the roses this summer — or better yet, put them on your face!

Rose oil is known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin-brightening properties, according to dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner.

"It can improve skin elasticity and texture," he said. "It has also been shown to interfere with pigment production to help brighten dark spots on the skin."

Rose water, which is made by infusing water with extracts and oils from roses, has the same benefits.

"There is a positive association that is related to roses, so when you combine that with aesthetics and skin, I would call it the happy essential oil," said Dr. Neal Schultz, a dermatologist and host of "It has a special place in the psyche."
