Buffalo still

Yes, they look like buffalo, pandas and camels – but that’s just your eyes playing tricks on you. Florida-based animal photographer Ren Netherland, 48, travels thousands of miles every year to photograph these creatively-coiffed poodles at grooming shows. Skillful owners mold their pooches to look like critters from the animal kingdom and characters from the movies, all in the name of art. Captain Jack Poodle, anyone?

This "buffalo" was groomed by Missy Gullett in February 2006 in Burbank, Calif.
