Super Bowl halftime snapshots since 1991

New Kids on the Block perform at Super Bowl XXV in Tampa, Florida, on Jan. 27, 1991. The boy band was rolled into a Disney tribute to "It's a Small World" and a salute to U.S. troops. The show didn't air until after the game as ABC aired coverage of Operation Desert Storm. 

Oh, the game? The New York Giants beat the Buffalo Bills 20-19.

For a Blues Brothers Bash halftime show at Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans, John Goodman, Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi performed as The Blues Brothers alongside James Brown on Jan. 26, 1997. ZZ Top also got in on the fun with "Tush" and "Legs."

Bono and Irish rockers U2 performed a stirring tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks during the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXVI at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 3, 2002. The band opened with "Beautiful Day" and concluded with "Where the Streets Have No Name" as victims' names scrolled upward on a backdrop.

Bruno Mars performed the halftime show of Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2, 2014.  Bruno Mars sang alongside his band the Hooligans with special guests the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He performed, "Billionaire," with a children's choir, "Locked out of Heaven," followed by "Treasure," "Runaway Baby," "Give it Away" (featuring The Red Hot Chili Peppers) and "Just the Way You Are," in tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces.

Oh, the game? The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos 43–8 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The Super Bowl XLIX halftime show took place on Feb. 1, 2015, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona as part of Super Bowl XLIX. It featured Katy Perry, with singers Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott as special guests. Perry's song list included "Roar," Dark Horse," "I Kissed a Girl," (with Lenny Kravitz) "Teenage Dream," California Gurls," "Get Ur Freak On, " with Missy Elliot, and she finished with her anthem, "Firework."

The halftime show attracted 118.5 million viewers, the largest audience in the history of the Super Bowl.

Oh, the game?  The New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 28–24, to earn their fourth Super Bowl title.

The Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show took place on February 7, 2016, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. It was headlined by the British rock group Coldplay with special guest performers Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. The show opened with Chris Martin singing the opening chorus from "Yellow". He was then joined by the remaining band members of Coldplay to perform "Viva la Vida", "Paradise", and "Adventure of a Lifetime" with the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles conducted by Gustavo Dudamel and the University of California Marching Band. Bruno Mars performed "Uptown Funk". Beyoncé performed her new single "Formation" before joining Mars onstage for a verse of "Uptown Funk". The show ended everyone onstage singin "Fix You" and "Up&Up." 

The halftime show attracted 115.5 million viewers.

Oh, the game?  The Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers, 24–10.

The Super Bowl LI Halftime show took place on February 5, 2017, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The show featured Lady Gaga, who sang "God Bless America," "This Land Is Your Land", "Poker Face," and her hits "Born This Way," "Just Dance," "Million Reasons" and "Bad Romance."

The halftime show attracted 117.5 million viewers, the second-most-watched Super Bowl halftime show.

Oh, the game?  The New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons, 34–28.

The Super Bowl LII Halftime Show took place on February 4, 2018, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Justin Timberlake headlined the show. Jimmy Fallon introduced Timberlake who sang "Filthy," "Rock Your Body," "Senorita," "SexyBack," "My Love," and "Cry Me a River."

The show attracted 106.6 million viewers.

Oh, the game?  The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the England Patriots, 41-33 to win their first Super Bowl in the team's history.

The Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show took place on February 3, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. It was headlined by Maroon 5, joined by Big Boi and Travis Scott. Maroon 5 sang "Harder to Breathe." Travis Scott sang "Sicko Mode," Big Boi sang "Kryptonite" and "The Way You Move."

The show attracted 103 million viewers.

Oh, the game? The New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3.

The Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show took place on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The show was co-headlined by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, and included guest appearances by Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Jennifer Lopez's daughter, Emme Maribel Muiz.

The show attracted 103 million viewers.

Oh, the game? The Kansas City Chiefs defeated The San Francisco 49ers, 31-20.

The Super Bowl LV Halftime show took place on February 7, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The show featured the Weeknd, who sang "Call Out My Name," "Can't Feel My Face", "Save Your Tears," and his biggest hit "Blinding Lights."

The halftime show attracted 91.6 million viewers. The lowest-watched Super Bowl on TV in 15 years.

Oh, the game? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9.
