Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is known for her elegant, classic style. And it seems that she's taken plenty of inspiration from her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. Here are a few times the former Kate Middleton has worn similar outfits to Princess Diana.

Beautiful in blue! Both Princess Diana and the former Kate Middleton wore blue ensembles when they announced their engagements. The princess sported a powder-blue suit jacket with scalloped edges when she and Prince Charles announced their engagement in 1981. Nearly 30 years later, the soon-to-be duchess wore a sapphire-blue dress with a wrapped waist to celebrate her engagement to Prince William in 2010.

The former Kate Middleton honored Princess Diana when she posed for an engagement photo wearing the princess’s famous sapphire ring in 2010. It’s one of the many ways the Duchess of Cambridge has paid tribute to her late mother-in-law through the years.

Both Princess Diana and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, glowed in traditional, white dresses on their wedding days. They also both carried white lily of the valley flowers in their bouquets.

The Duchess of Cambridge may have taken a style cue from Princess Diana when she wore this pale, lavender Alexander McQueen gown in 2011. Princess Diana sported a similarly ethereal, pastel dress at a black-tie event in 1989.

On the eve of the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, the Duchess of Cambridge honored her with a floral dress that was nearly identical to a dress Diana wore in 1981.

The duchess wore a red dress after the birth of Prince Louis, which echoed the outfit Princess Diana wore when she left the hospital with Prince Harry. Both ensembles were loose fitting and had white, Peter Pan collars.
