ALLEY WANTS TO BE A ROLE MODEL TO OLDER WOMEN
Actress KIRSTIE ALLEY hopes her much-publicised bikini reveal on pal OPRAH WINFREY's talk show yesterday (06NOV06) will prompt other voluptuous women to don beachwear in public.
The former CHEERS star promised Winfrey last year (05) she'd return to her show in a bikini after she lost 75 pounds (34 kilograms) of her 220-pound (99.8 kilograms) bulk - and she kept her promise.
The thinner actress drew gasps and cheers from the studio audience as she strutted onto the OPRAH set in a two-piece bikini, high heels and a sarong.
She nervously removed the wrap-around sarong and revealed her new toned look.
The 55-year-old actress admitted she only appeared on the show in her bikini after making a promise to Oprah on live television, and she said she never would have had the courage to wear a bikini onstage otherwise.
But she felt amazing when the big reveal was over: "I don't think we (women) ever feel like we're good enough. We don't feel like we're thin enough or pretty enough or smart enough or work hard enough. And we are good enough.
"The bikini thing is neither here nor there, other than the fact, you know, I am 55 years old. So I thought, `Come on, we are all good enough. And we look good enough. And we are not our bodies." (KL/WNVOP)
