Jalada Prasad, about six-month-old male Indian one-horned rhino, runs around his enclosure on his debut to the public at Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata, India, on March 27. The forest guards rescued Prasad when poachers at Jaldapara forest in north Bengal killed his mother in November 2014. He was brought to the zoo in January 2015 and was kept under strict vigil and nourishment, according to a zoo spokesperson.
A dog rests at the Dog Resort in Sao Paulo, on March 25. City dwellers in the South American concrete jungle of Sao Paulo are increasingly living on their own in high rise apartment blocks, turning to pets for company rather than traditional family cohabitation. Care centres, such as this, who look after the animals during the working hours of the day are becoming increasingly popular.
A basenji puppy looks out as he is held by a soldier watching the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment parade in Hyde Park in London, on March 26. The regiment was undergoing their annual inspection to validate their ability to conduct state ceremonial duties for the year. 160 horses were paraded accompanied by the mounted Band of the Life Guards and Band of the Blues and Royals.
