'The King's Speech'

British monarchy tale "The King's Speech" led Golden Globe contenders Tuesday with seven nominations, including best drama and acting honors for Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush. Firth plays King George VI with Bonham Carter as his devoted wife, the late Queen Mum. Rush plays the speech therapist who helps the King overcome the stammer and lead his people through the dark days of World War II.

'The Fighter'

Christian Bale, left, is already being talked about as a favorite for the best supporting actor Oscar. He plays Dickie Eklund, brother and trainer to boxer Mark Wahlberg in "The Fighter." Both men received Golden Globes nominations.

'The Social Network'

Eisenberg and Garfield are nominated for acting honors, and the film tied with "The Fighter" for second-most nominations overall, just one behind "The King's Speech."

'Black Swan'

'Inception'

The dream-swirled word of "Inception," starring Leonardo DiCaprio, intrigued and confused many viewers. The film was nominated for best drama.

James Franco is up for an acting Globe for his work as Aron Ralston, a hiker who becomes trapped and must take desperate measures to free himself.

'The Tourist'

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp star in "The Tourist." Many Globes observers found it odd that the film was nominated for best musical or comedy motion picture, as it is neither. Both stars also received acting nominations, as did Depp for "Alice in Wonderland."

'Burlesque'

One of the odder nominees was the far-from-critically-acclaimed "Burlesque," starring Christina Aguilera and Cher. It made the nomination list in the best musical or comedy motion picture category.

'Winter's Bone'

"Winter's Bone" may be one of the least-seen nominees, but ever since its release it's been talked about as an award favorite. Jennifer Lawrence stars as a young woman in the Ozarks who must try to locate her bail-jumping, meth-making dad in order to save her humble home.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) Michael Douglas

'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'

Michael Douglas was nominated for an acting Globe for reprising his role as tycoon Gordon Gekko in the sequel to 1987's "Wall Street." Douglas is battling advanced throat cancer.

'Toy Story 3'

Buzz Lightyear, Woody and pals are back in the third "Toy Story" movie," which is nominated for best animated film. All three films in the series have been critically acclaimed.

'Boardwalk Empire'

"Boardwalk Empire," HBO's epic drama about Prohibition bootleggers, is up for best dramatic series, with star Steve Buscemi also nominated for an acting award.

"Mad Men" remains an awards favorite. It's nominated for best dramatic television series, and star Jon Hamm, center, is also up for an acting honor.
