Here are the biggest celebrity breakups of 2017

After eight years together, the beloved Hollywood couple, who share one child, son Jack, 5, shocked fans in August when they announced they were going their separate ways. "We tried hard for a long time and we're really disappointed," the pair revealed in a joint statement.

The "Trainwreck" star and her furniture designer boyfriend broke up in May after nearly a year and a half together.

The "Full House" alum and her financier boyfriend, who was 28 years her senior, split up in March after 5 months of dating.

The former "Bachelor" and his fiancée, who also starred together in the spinoff "Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?," went their separate ways in May.

Funnyman Stiller and his actress wife announced their split in May after 18 years together. The pair, who appeared in several films together, have two children, Ella Olivia, 15, and Quinlin Dempsey, 12.

The "Friends" star and his photographer wife announced their separation in April. "It is with great love, respect, and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship," the couple said in a joint statement. The pair, who have a daughter, Cleo, 6, married in 2010.

In September, actor Josh Duhamel and pop star Fergie surprised fans when they released a joint statement announcing they'd split up after eight years of marriage. "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year," the statement read. The pair share a son, Axl, 4. 

The "Younger" star and her on-again-off-again boyfriend Koma split up in March, but Duff confirmed during a recent appearance on "The Talk" that they were giving love another shot. "Third time's the charm," joked the actress.

In January, the two-time Oscar winner and her music mogul boyfriend ended their relationship after eight years.

Three months after welcoming their first child, pop superstar Jackson and her businessman husband, whom she married in a secret ceremony in 2012, announced they were splitting up. The pair share a son, Eissa, who turns 1 on Jan. 3.

In November, the Oscar winner and "Voice" mentor split in a bitter breakup with the former wrestler after a 10-year relationship. Hudson immediately sought and then dropped an order of protection against Otunga. The pair are now battling for primary custody of their son, David Jr. 

Oscar winner Lawrence and Aronofsky, who directed the star in 2017 thriller "Mother," broke up in October after a year of dating. The following month, the friendly exes were spotted sitting together at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles.

"Fuller House" star Sweetin and and her fiancé Hodak, called off their engagement in March. Hodak was later arrested for violating a restraining order Sweetin had filed against him. Sweetin and Hodak became engaged in January 2016 after two years of dating.

"Bachelor" alum Viall met and fell in love with Grimaldi on Season 21 of the show, but it wasn't meant to last. The couple broke things off in  August, five months after the finale aired. In a joint statement, the pair told fans, "We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for."

The "Roar" singer and her actor boyfriend Bloom broke up in February after a yearlong whirlwind romance. In August, the friendly exes were spotted together at an Ed Sheeran concert. "It's nice to keep people you love around you," Perry explained during an interview. "When you get older, lines get blurred."

In August, the "Real Housewives of New York City" star announced she and her hubby D'Agostino were going their separate ways after seven months of marriage. The pair's romance was tumultuous, with evidence of D'Agostino cheating (discussed on Season 9 of "Real Housewives") before the pair even tied the knot. 

The "Avengers" star and her French-born journalist hubby finalized their divorce in September. The pair, who tied the knot in a secret ceremony in 2014, continue to co-parent their daughter, Rose, 3. "As a devoted mother and a private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage," Johansson said in a statement.

The former "Hills" star filed for divorce from husband Bohan in September after less than a year of marriage amid allegations of domestic violence on Bohan's part. The pair, who dated on and off since 2008, share a daughter, Kirra, 1. 

The "Beauty and the Beast" star and his wife called it quits in October, after separating in May. The pair, who have four children together, were married for 22 years. McGregor has since been linked to his "Fargo" co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

"Star Wars" star Christensen and "Hart of Dixie" star Bilson ended their decade-long relationship in September. The two share a daughter, Briar Rose, 3.

In December, the "Long Island Medium" stars confirmed they were separating just three weeks after revealing there was a "strain" on their marriage during an episode of the show. The couple have been married for 28 years and have two adult children. "One thing will never change and that is that we will always love and support each other and be the best parents we can be to our children," Theresa Caputo tweeted days later.

"Blackish" star Fishburne and "Suits" star Torres revealed in September that they'd split last fall after 14 years of marriage. "There are no bad guys here," Torres revealed in a statement. "Only a love story with a different ending than either one of us had expected." The two share a daughter, Delilah, 10.

The "Orange Is the New Black" star and her fashion editor fiancée ended their romance in January after a two-year engagement.

The pop diva and her backup dancer boyfriend split in April after several months of dating, but were back together again by the next month. In early December, the pair were spotted exhibiting adorable PDA at Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" concert in New York City.
