If you've ever had to set your alarm a lot earlier in the morning in an effort to get a salon-worthy blowout at home, whether it's for work or a special occasion, then you know that it involves a lot of tools — and an arm workout to boot.

Enter: the heated styling brush.

Thanks to the arrival of the TikTok-viral Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer Brush, a lot more people (like us at home) discovered how quickly attainable a salon-quality 'do can be — one Shop TODAY writer tried the Revlon and loved the "perfect" blowout it gave her in less than 15 minutes. And she wasn't alone — the #revlononestep hashtag has more than 136.3 million views on the app. (Revlon has now outdone itself by since releasing a 2.0 version that already has a sizable cult following.)

But we knew there had to be more blow dryer brushes out there than just the Revlon One-Step that could get the job done, and for all types of hair. So we set out to find the top brush-and-dryer combo tools that deliver when it comes to results.

How we chose the best heated styling brushes

To come up with our list of the best blow dryer brushes on the market, The Shop TODAY team considered how quickly and efficiently each of these styling tools can dry and style hair with minimum damage, all while being easy to hold and transport. We also scanned reviews regarding each tool's durability and looked through numerous retailers' bestselling pages for the products with the highest ratings — taking into account high-end, mid-range and budget picks.

Furthermore, we interviewed two professional hairstylists, Marco Pelusi and Jamie Wiley, to get their expert advice on how to shop for these useful tools, as well as some of their do's and don'ts when it comes to using them.

Finally, to ensure these heated brushes are available and reflect current prices, Shop TODAY editors often check retailer links and replace unavailable or sold-out products with newer models when available.

Now, without further ado: our 34 favorite heated styling brushes, including ones we've tried ourselves, Shop TODAY bestsellers and even a few more that have gone viral on TikTok. Use the links below to jump to a specific category.

John Frieda Salon Shape 1.5-Inch Hot Air Brush

One Shop TODAY contributor loves how this tool cuts down on the effort it takes to style her hair.

"I really liked that I only needed one hand to style my hair, instead of two — one holding the brush and one holding the hair dryer — which made it less awkward and allowed me to better control the area of hair that I'm styling," she wrote.

There couldn't be a more effortless way to get smooth, glossy results thanks to the brush's smaller titanium ceramic coated barrel combined with its high heat, but it also causes less damage than a straightener with the help of its advanced ionic technology.

One of the writers of this piece can attest to the results: It gives my straight, flat hair major volume (and compliments), and it's very beginner friendly.

But beware, this hot air brush is low in stock because it's really that good (it's now only in stock on Amazon, and only in the version that comes with attachments). If you can get your hands on this, you won't ever want to let it go.

Full review: One writer found this brush so easy to use that she was able to mimic what her hairstylist does at the salon.

Revlon One-Step Volumizer PLUS 2.0 Hair Dryer and Hot Air Brush

Revlon One-Step Volumizer Original 1.0 is the OG of heated styling brushes: As the name implies, you can conveniently dry and style your hair in one simple step.

But just when we thought there couldn’t be anything better, Revlon released its PLUS 2.0 Hair Dryer and Hot Air Brush, which gives you 75 percent shinier hair with 50 percent less heat damage, due to its ceramic titanium tourmaline technology, according to the brand.

The oval brush is smaller than the original, at a more versatile 2.4 inches, making it extra easy to dry hair closer to the root, the brand says. It's also suitable for all hair types, even if you have fine or short hair. The 2.0 version has a motor that is said to last 40 percent longer, making it more reliable.

Reviewers echo the brand's statements about the barrel's versatility, raving about how conveniently the updated brush can “volumize your hair at the roots.” It currently stands in the third spot as the bestselling hot air brush on Amazon (at the time of publication).

BabylissPRO NanoTitanium Ionic Thermal Paddle Brush

Is your hair having a mind of its own, and all you want is sleek hair that's under control? Hairstylist Jamie Wiley recommends BabylissPRO NanoTitanium Ionic Thermal Paddle Brush. It straightens your hair while adding shine (thanks to the Nano titanium-coated bristles), and the ionic technology tames frizz like you used a flat iron.

It also has a 360-degree swiveling 8-foot cord, making getting glossy hair and perfecting touch-ups that much easier.

Chi Air Tourmaline Ceramic Hot Brush

Like the brand's iconic straighteners, this hot brush features digital temperature control and design features that help keep your hair looking healthy after styling. It also boasts 53 percent more tourmaline-ceramic brushes, which the brand says contributes to better hair grip and more efficient straightening in less time.

This heated brush boasts an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon. "I love how soft my hair feels after using it," one "pleasantly surprised" reviewer wrote, adding, "This is great to straighten while still keeping volume. Using the brush has cut down on the straightening portion of my routine, allowing me to get to the styling portion more quickly."

We also love that the brush locks your chosen temperature setting (no more accidentally changing the heat setting!) and that it has a one-hour automatic shut-off for safety.

Infinito Pro By Conair Frizz Free 1.5-inch Hot Air Brush

If you struggle with frizzy hair and dream about getting shiny, manageable hair with gorgeous volume, you need to get your hands on Conair's Frizz Free Hot Air Brush. If you prefer a round brush over a paddle brush, Flower Beauty also offers this volumizing brush. It's a one-stop shop for waves, curls and more body.

It smooths and shapes hair and can even act as a curler if you prefer. Reviewers praise it for its ability to tame frizz and create soft, voluminous curls. It's also easy to use, thanks to only having two settings. "Twist the styler to create curls or enhance volume at the roots with a simple lift," instructs the brand on its site.

The ion-powered brush currently has over 160 five-star reviews from Walmart shoppers, who love how easy it is to use.

"As a senior with fine and naturally curly hair, I have been using brush irons since they first came on the scene," one reviewer wrote, adding, "This is the ultimate best! I can't believe how well it works."

Infiniti Pro by Conair The Knot Dr. Paddle Brush

This paddle brush detangles, dries and styles all at once. It’s ideal for all hair types and operates on one speed and two heat settings. Unlike Revlon's One-Step tool, you can detach the brush from the handle to use it as a hairdryer, meaning you can remove excess water before brushing for a smoother styling experience. With 138 Flexalite bristles, it also makes untangling your hair easy and painless. Plus, the pink is so Barbiecore.

This gadget has more than 4,900 verified five-star reviews on Amazon, including one from a reviewer who called it the “best handheld dryer I’ve ever owned.”

It also features both nylon bristles to help with detangling, and heat-activated silicone ones to help add shine.

If you want to reap the best results, the brand advises to use it on damp hair and hold the brush at your roots to help give your locks extra volume. One reviewer wrote that it saves them a lot of time in the morning, since all they have to do is "brush, dry and go."

Another member of the One-Step family, this styling brush boasts the "power of a dryer and the precision of a styler," according to the brand. It runs on 1000 watts of power and uses ionic technology to help reduce frizz, while its large paddle brush head covers a sizable surface area to smooth hair quickly. In addition to two heat settings, it also has a cool shot button to help set your hairstyle.

With more than 41,000 verified five-star ratings, it’s landed itself as the eighth bestseller in the hair dryer category on Amazon.

The multidimensional bristles smoothly glide from root to tip, and its built-in ionic generator can revive second-day hair with extra shine and no frizz.

Its temperature range of up to a whopping 430 degrees makes this tool perfect for all hair types and textures. Plus, the LED smart heat memory system remembers the last used temperature — even if you don't.

As one of the writer's of this piece, I'm here to tell you that Revlon's XL tool is my go-to for second-day hair: I use it to add a little volume at the roots and to tame my ends for a polished finish.

This versatile tool comes with three heat settings plus one cool-shot button as well as two interchangeable spin brushes: You can use the 1.5-inch barrel for shorter hair and bangs or tighter curls, while the 2-inch barrel is perfect if your hair is longer or if you fancy looser waves. There's also two-way rotating mechanism to help create more natural-looking curls.

A reviewer with gray hair loved it, too, saying, "It is lightweight, easy to maneuver and comes with usable attachments. It prevents the annoying flyaways that come from other heated stylers." It’s a winner.

Bed Head Smooth Operator Straightening Styling Heated Brush

Want to make sure your hair is frizz-free and smooth during vacations? This tangle-free tool promises to be super easy to travel with — and to painlessly detangle and straighten your hair in one go.

It has multiple heat settings that can be customized according to your hair type, and it can heat up to 430 degrees. Its LED smart heat memory system remembers the last temperature used, so you have one less thing to worry about while traveling. Plus, it has an auto shut-off button and comes with a cute travel bag.

Reviewers love this little tool that keeps their hair looking perfect while on the go; one reviewer said, "It is lightweight and will not take up a lot of room in the suitcase. Even the color combination is snazzy. Easy, breezy way to straighten hair ... for those of us that want to look good but don't want a lot of fuss and bother."

Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Brush

As the third best-selling hot air brush on Amazon with over 28,000 verified five-star reviews, the Tymo hair straightener brush is a life-changer. It can straighten the thickest and curliest hair in less time (it's said to heat up in only 20 seconds), all while giving hair an extra smooth and shiny finish with 50 percent less damage that traditional styling methods, the brand says.

A impressed reviewer with thick and curly hair raved, "It warmed up quickly, I combed my hair as usual, and it was straight! Only in seven minutes!"

That's because this versatile tool has five different heat settings so that you can personalize it to your hair type and texture. The International dual voltage (110V-240V) will ensure your hair is picture-perfect anywhere in the world while traveling too.

Want even more settings and have a little more cash to spare? The Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Plus boasts nine temperature settings.

The best oval hair dryer brushes

L'ange Le Volume 2-in-1 Titanium Brush Dryer

While big brands make impressive hot air brushes, L'ange Hair is one small business that makes equally remarkable hot air brushes that promise salon-like hairstyles at home. This titanium hot air brush comes with a cleaning tool and protective storage case. Plus, the compact size makes it easy to fit almost anywhere or to carry while traveling.

The two-in-one brush has over 4,600 verified five-star reviews (out of about 6,000) on Amazon. One recurring highlight among reviewers is that it can save you so much time doing your hair, with one raving: "I have shoulder-length very wavy to curly hair that would take 45 minutes to dry, then another 10 to flat iron. So I wore it straight zero times per year. With this magical hair dryer, I'm done in about 10 minutes with great bounce at the ends and volume." Now, that's a wow factor.

BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Rotating Hot Air Brush

Premium beauty tools, like this hot air brush from BaBylissPRO, can sometimes come at a price, but according to more than 1,700 verified Amazon reviewers who gave this a full five-star rating, it can be worth it.

The rotating Nano titanium styling brush features an ergonomic handle and a uniquely designed brush head that makes styling a breeze: Its rotating barrel also moves forward and backward for greater ease. It's also equipped with antistatic bristles.

"Feels like you just walked out of the salon," one reviewer wrote after using it.

Drybar The Double Shot Blow-Dryer Brush

You may be familiar with Drybar's hot paddle brush, but the brand also makes a blow-drying brush for those that are looking to blow out their hair instead of straighten it. The brush works on straight, wavy, curly and coily hair to help achieve volume, shine and tame frizz, says the brand. Users with thick and wavy locks, in particular, have had great luck with this styling tool. One such reviewer reports, "Even though I have wavy/curly hair, it holds the style for four days until I have to wash it."

It's designed to be safe to use on damp, towel-dried hair, but if you have thicker tresses, you might want to take out excess moisture using a traditional blow dryer first.

More than 350 Sephora shoppers have given the tool a full five-star rating for its "perfect" results, and it's garnered over 39,000 "hearts" from the Sephora beauty community. Other highlights from users include it's lightweight construction, as well as how its heat settings don't get as hot (aka less risk of heat damage) as comparable products.

Ion Titanium Pro Brush Iron

Love regularly heat styling your hair but don't want the heat damage? Invest in the Ion Titanium Pro Brush Iron: It produces far-infrared heat to lock in moisture (and minimize heat damage) while quickly drying your hair and setting a long-lasting style.

The 1.25-inch diameter titanium barrel is said to distribute heat more evenly and works on all hair lengths, particularly on short or fine hair, which typically struggle with larger barrels. A reviewer on Amazon gave it five stars and said, "Works great on my short hair."

Bonus: This has a 60-minute auto-shutoff feature.

Hot Tools Professional 24K Gold One-Step Dryer Volumizer

Hot Tools' gold volumizer features bristles that are infused with charcoal, which can refresh and give some life to your second-day hair. The brush has three heat and speed settings to give you styling versatility, and the special 24K gold surface design helps to evenly distribute heat across every strand, says the brand, so you can get precise results across the whole length of your hair every time.

We also like the ergonomic grip, the "cool-tip" design and its lightweight build.

The Gold One-Step Volumizer is also the sixth-bestselling hot-air brush on Amazon, with more than 17,200 verified five-star ratings.

The best paddle-style hair dryer brushes

Morrocanoil Smooth Style Ceramic Heated Brush

If you have long, thick hair with waves or curls and want to straighten it in less time than it would take with a flat iron, try Moroccanoil's heated brush. Its ceramic bristles heat evenly and quickly to make the process of straightening lots of hair quick and easy, but their tips are cool to minimize thermal damage. Plus, the beveled edges are also heated to help you style those hard-to-reach areas.

It also has a digital display for temperature control and heats up to 430 degrees. Bonus: It has an instant heat button that heats the brush to maximum heat quickly, as well as advanced ionic technology to help you say "goodbye" to all the frizz.

Many reviewers on Amazon claim it's "very easy to use," with one highlighting, "Washed my hair yesterday, and it was its super curly, wavy self. [It straightens] my hair in less than 15 minutes without me combing it out first!"

T3 EDGE Heated Smooth Styling Brush

T3 EDGE is a 2022 Allure Best of Beauty Award winner for a reason: The brush allows you to set the heat according to your hair type and texture to get drool-worthy blowouts at home. With the ion generator, you won't have to worry about uninvited static frizz as it locks your smooth style for hours.

With an average of 4.5 out of 5-star ratings on Ulta, many reviewers love that the tool makes the process of smoothening and straightening hair easy and quick. Its speed can be attributed to the brand's proprietary "Rapid HeatIQ" digitally controlled technology, which includes a so-called smart microchip that monitors temperature fluctuations to keep heat even and consistent while you're styling.

One reviewer said, "This hair brush is a miracle worker! It turns my curly hair to sleek within a few minutes! For days when you are in a hurry, this is a must."

Ghd Glide Smoothing Hot Brush

Wake up with a case of bed head? This brush from Ghd is perfect for second-day styling. It can be used on straight, wavy and curly hair to fight frizz and smooth your locks quickly. Better yet, you can run it through your dry hair like you would any other brush to polish up your look.

The brand touts the tool's ceramic heat technology, which it says monitors the temperature 250 times a second so that the brush stays at the optimal maximum styling temperature of 365 degrees. The head also features high-density bristles of both long and short lengths to make styling more efficient.

More than half of Sephora reviewers love it for how easy it is to use and how their hair still looks healthy after using it.

It's a limited edition, so act fast.

Calista Original Triangle Heated Hair Styling Brush

This Calista brush is perfect if your hair is feeling flat and you want to revive it with a little lift and volume. According to the brand, the brush, with its nylon bristles and unique triangle-shaped head, is great for all hair types and lengths and gives you a super-smooth finish without the creases left behind from a flat iron. Make sure, however, to only use this on dry hair.

It's a handy tool that lets you achieve a range of styles, from a "lift and flick" look to a smooth and silky do to soft waves. Like with any heated tool, it's always wise to use a heat protectant on your hair before use to minimize damage.

Amika Double Agent 2-in-1 Straightening Blow Dryer Brush

While you have to wait to use most hot styling brushes on mostly dry hair, Amika's Double Agent can be used right after washing your hair or on damp hair. It's also perfect to style dry hair to give it a little oomph. This brush works on all hair types and textures, the brand says.

Its styling magic lies in its ceramic base and heated bristles, which released far-infrared heat that helps lock in moisture; that's combined with the negative ion technology that helps reduce frizz and promote shine. We'd also be remiss not to mention the flexible outer teeth to help with hair grip.

After getting this one, you might not need any other hair tools, as one reviewer on Sephora gushed, "Absolutely love this! I have so many hair tools, and now I can get rid of them all. I was leery at first but this honestly does help smooth as well as straighten your hair, and it's so fast and easy to use!"

Drybar The Brush Crush Heated Straightening Brush

Drybar's heated straightening and brushing tool harnesses its paddle-shaped design and powerful heat settings to give you a frizz-free, salon-quality look. Start out by using it on small sections of dry, detangled hair in order to achieve the best results.

This heated straightening brush is perfect for all hair types, including those with tight coils. The precise digital temperature control heats up to 450 degrees and shuts off automatically after 60 minutes in case you forget to switch it off.

"Cut down my 25-minute hair-straightening routine to seven minutes," wrote one reviewer, adding, "looks so natural and effortless."

Fhi Heat Stylus Thermal Styling Brush

While less a paddle and more a thin brush, we included this here due to its versatility: The hot stylus brush can detangle, dry and smooth all hair types with five different heat settings from 260 to 420 degrees. The ceramic heats evenly and quickly, while the tourmaline technology gives you a smooth finish, all while locking in moisture to prevent your hair from drying too much. All this combined makes this an excellent tool for colored or highlighted hair, and the smaller head makes it perfect for bangs, too.

With an average star rating of 4.3 stars on Amazon, one reviewer raved, "I've been using it ever since I arrived in Florida, and I feel so much better. It straightens and de-frizzes the hair, all the while building body into fine hair." This could be your BFF against humidity.

One caveat from reviewers, however, is that this works best for those with short hair.

The best heated styling brush sets

T3 Airebrush Duo

T3's Airebrush Duo features two interchangeable heads and 15 different heat and speed combinations that you can use to achieve different hair styles. One reviewer says their hair feels "super silky soft and smooth" after using it.

"The versatility in looks I can get between the two attachments is such a bonus," they continued. The tool, an Allure Best of Beauty 2021 winner, features T3 IonFlow technology, which helps to reduce frizz and add shine to hair. It also boasts five heat settings and three speed settings, a smart microchip that monitors temperature, as well as the so-called EvenStream Air Vents that keep airflow consistent and promote quick styling.

This innovative tool also has over 15,000 “hearts” on Sephora.

Dyson Airwrap Complete Styler

Though it's considerably pricier than the other sets on this list, Dyson's Airwrap Styler is a TikTok favorite — it has over 600 million views and counting on the platform. A previous Allure Best of Beauty winner, the set does everything from straighten to curl hair without causing any extreme heat damage. It can also be used on damp, towel-dried hair to style it to perfection.

The tool has garnered five-star reviews from more than half of Ulta shoppers who've left their feedback, and more than 174,000 “hearts” from the Sephora beauty community (where the set is already sold out!).

CHI Volumizer 4-in-1 Blowout Brush

There's a lot to love about CHI Volumizer 4-in-1 Blowout Brush because it generates negative ions to seal the cuticles while drying for a sleek finish. This brush has four interchangeable heads: a nozzle concentrator for a regular blow-dry, a paddle brush for a smooth finish, an oval brush for enviable body and a diffuser for the roots.

It's no surprise that this multitasking tool has over 1,100 verified five-star reviews on Amazon, and people love how it has many blow-drying options.

Amika Blowout Babe Thermal Hair Brush

Amika's styling brush can be used on straight, wavy, coiled, curly and tightly coiled hair. It includes three barrel attachments that can be used to style hair of all lengths and thicknesses. Whether you want polished, smooth hair or loose waves, nearly every kind of style is achievable with this tool.

The styler's secret? A combination of its 1.5-inch far-infrared-emitting ceramic barrel to heat hair evenly and from the inside out; an ion generator to reduce frizz and static; and an easy-to-grip handle and lightweight construction.

You'll want to use it on dry hair in order to get a "life-changing" blowout, as one reviewer put it.

Note: It's sold out at most retailers, but we believe it belongs on this list, so we suggest you sign up for notifications for when it comes back in stock on Amika's site (and other retailers) in February.

Questions about heated styling brushes, answered

Are heated brushes good for your hair, and can I use them every day?

Unless you're a professional, it's much easier to dry and style your hair with a heated brush than maneuvering a hair dryer and a brush with both hands, according to experts.

Hollywood-based hairstylist Marco Pelusi says, "Any heat added to the hair during styling can increase the chances of damage to the hair.”

He adds that it's best to use heated brushes or any type of heated tool in moderation. "Allow the hair to have a bit of a break in between uses,” says Pelusi.

Pro hairstylist Jamie Wiley, who's based in Iowa City, Iowa, says heated brushes can be a great styling option in your daily hair care routine.

"Just as long as a heat protectant is being used," she adds, "as it will shield against the potential heat exposure of all of our hair tools." Pelusi echoes her advice on using heat protectants.

Should I use a heated brush on dry hair or wet hair?

Pelusi and Wiley do not recommend using a heated brush on wet hair because it can cause more hair damage.

"Pre-dry your hair gently with your hands before using the heated brush, because the less time the heated brush is on your hair, the better off your hair will be," Pelusi explains.

According to Wiley, a heated brush works similarly to a flat iron, meaning it should never be used on wet hair.

Are heated brushes better than flat irons?

When it comes to straightening your hair, think of heated brushes and flat irons as two different ways to style your hair, rather than viewing them as either-or options.

"I wouldn't say that the hot brush is better than the flat iron but rather another option to choose from," says Wiley.

She adds that both help to elongate the hair strand and smooth and eliminate frizz while maintaining the integrity of the shape and volume.

"Flat irons most often provide texture out services with minimal volume, and neither is better than the other, just different tools for different needs and end results," Wiley explains.

It's all about finding balance for Pelusi.

"Flat irons can be a lot for the hair to handle, so alternating heat styling tools on different days is always a good idea,” he explains. He also recommends giving a break to your hair from hot tools when needed.
