It was a day of firsts for Charlie! TODAY's puppy with a purpose took his first big road trip this week and got the chance to put some of his training to the test.
On Wednesday morning, our little pup took a train south from New York to Baltimore to explore the Naval Academy, meet NBC's WBAL news team and score a behind-the-scenes look at the Sunday Night Football bus!
It was a pawsitive experience for Charlie and his team, who not only aced his first long distance trip, but also got the opportunity to spread the word about his role as a service dog.
The proud pup practiced his skills every step of the way, working among bustling commuters at Penn Station and among the crowds during class changes at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

He was excited to meet a group of enthusiastic midshipmen, who feel great pride in being able to serve our country — just like Charlie!
But that wasn't all! After the weather turned bad, Charlie practiced guiding his puppy trainer Olivia through puddles and pouring rain.

And an unexpected run-in with another service dog proved Charlie's manners are right on track. Even though he's always happy to meet a new friend, he did a great job staying focused on Olivia!
We would be silly to give this paw-some pup anything but an A+ for a job well done on his first big trip.
Treats for all!
