Chef notes

This is the easiest slow-cooker mulled wine ever. 'Tis the season for mulled wine, and the best part about it — besides that it's delicious — is that it's so simple to make. All you need equipment-wise is a slow cooker or a pot and a ladle. Like any other cocktail, you can put your personal spin on this recipe with additions of sweeter ingredients like apple cider or pear nectar, or spice it up with fresh sliced ginger or cloves.

My super easy mulled wine is a surefire holiday party and wintertime win, and requires little to no kitchen savvy to succeed. Simply add your ingredients, heat and serve. Clink!

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of your favorite red wine
  • 1/4 cup cognac or brandy
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 whole star anise
  • 1 orange, peeled into strips for garnish, or sliced into half moons for garnish

Preparation

In a pot or slow cooker, add all of the ingredients except the orange garnish. Heat over medium-low heat just until heated through — this is a hot cocktail, not a boiling one. You can keep your mulled wine on low heat throughout your party and serve with a heatproof ladle into mugs or heatproof glasses.
