Take one sip and your taste buds will be transported to a snowy mountainside lodge with a warm fire roaring inside. This cozy cocktail is like curing up under a warm blanket during winter in drink form.

Ingredients

  • 7 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground ginger
  • 6 ounces rye whiskey, preferably High West Rye (optional)
  • Maple syrup, for garnish
  • Raw sugar, for garnish

Preparation

In a pot, heat the milk, maple syrup, clove, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, nutmeg, ginger and rye, if using, until steamy but not boiling, or to 180°F.

Pour into mugs, garnish with maple syrup and raw sugar and serve warm.
