This is a fun drink and great to make with kids. The cereal marshmallows and sprinkles add color, it is quick and easy to make and a great conversation starter!
Technique tip: Try to find a good quality white chocolate. Guittard or Ghirardelli can be found in most supermarkets.
Swap options: For those that are dairy-free, you can substitute a milk alternative. An almond and coconut milk mixture works nicely. You can also use dairy-free whipped cream. Coconut cream and powdered sugar whipped together can make a great whipped cream substitute. If you do not have vanilla paste, you can use vanilla extract or vanilla bean works just as well. Split the bean in half and scrape out the seeds.
Sprinkle and marshmallow mix
- 4 tablespoons sprinkles
- 6 tablespoons mini marshmallows or cereal marshmallows
Vanilla whipped cream
- 1 pint heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- 1 quart whole or 2% milk
- 1 cup white chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
For the sprinkle and marshmallow mix:
In a small bowl, add sprinkles and marshmallow. Mix well and set aside.
For the vanilla whipped cream:
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, pour in heavy cream. Add vanilla and sugar. Whisk the mixture on high until soft peaks form.
For the white-hot chocolate:
In a medium heavy-bottom pot, over medium-low heat, pour in the milk and white chocolate. Bring milk to a simmer and stir often (milk burns easily, so make sure not to bring it to a boil). It will start to bubble on the sides. Whisk until chocolate and milk are combined. Remove pot from heat. Stir in the vanilla paste.
Pour 8 ounces of the white hot chocolate mixture into a mug. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the sprinkle and marshmallow mixture. Top with whipped cream and finish with another tablespoon of the sprinkle and marshmallow mixture.
