Spiced breakfast quinoa

Makes: 4 servings, Time: 25 minutes


  • 1 orange, halved
  • 2 teaspoon whole allspice berries, 2 teaspoons cardamom pods
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • 2 cup sliced fresh fruit
  • 1 cup nuts, toasted if you like, optional


Baking Directions:

Squeeze the juice from the orange into a medium saucepan and toss in the peels along with whatever spices you’re using.

Add 2 cups water and 1 cup raw quinoa.

Bring the mixture to a boil.

Let it simmer for 15 minutes, just like rice.

Fish out the orange peels and spices with a small strainer or slotted spoon.

Stir the spices into the finished quinoa.

Pour into bowl and put your favorite topping on it.
