Chef notes

If you're looking for the perfect Golden Globes cocktail to serve or sip this Sunday we've got you covered. Every year awards season is kicked off by the glamorous Golden Globes complete with red carpet fashion, over-the-top parties and fabulous food and drink to go along.

When it comes to the glass, lots and lots of bubbly will be flowing and this year's cocktail is called the Moet Diamond, a spin on the classic Champagne cocktail served with a fun rock candy stirrer. If you'd like a taste of the Globes but don't have rock candy stirrers on hand or Moet & Chandon in your budget, here's our take for an equally delicious and red carpet-worthy cocktail. Here are both my recipe for a Sparkling Golden Globes Cocktail and the Moet Diamond recipe. You choose the winner.

For The Moet Diamond Cocktail: Pour 1/2 ounce orange liqueur into a Champagne flute and add 2 dashes cherry bitters. Gently pour 3 ounces Moet Imperial Brut Champagne on top. Garnish with a rock candy stick.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ounce orange liqueur, like triple sec or Cointreau
  • 2 dashes cherry bitters
  • 1 brandied cherry
  • 1 slice orange zest
  • 3 ounces chilled sparkling wine, like Prosecco, Cava or whatever suits you

Preparation

In a coupe glass, add the orange liqueur, cherry bitters and brandied cherry. Run the zest of the orange skin side down around the rim of a coupe glass and drop into the glass. Top with chilled bubbly wine. Clink!
