Ingredients

  • 1 large French croissant
  • 1/2 medium avocado
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 4 slices pre-cooked, store-bought chicken breast
  • 2 leaves butter lettuce
  • 4 fresh basil leaves

    This sandwich was the first sandwich that I ever ate when I moved to California when I was 21 years old. I have loved it ever since, and I added the greens myself as it didn't exist in the original. Plus, the original was made on sourdough bread, which is also delicious, but I chose a croissant to make it even better!

    Technique tip: Mash avocado and mayonnaise together — no seasoning needed.

    Preparation

    1.

    Halve croissant and toast, if desired.

    2.

    Mash together the avocado and mayo.

    3.

    Starting with bottom half of croissant, spread mashed avocado mixture on the bread. Add the slices of chicken breast, top with lettuce, basil and top of croissant. Cut in half and serve.
