This sauce has a unique balance of savory and sweet, with a slight heat on the back end. It is perfect for slathering over pork ribs, smoky brisket or grilled veggies.
Ingredients
- 1¼ cup ketchup
- 1 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup tomato paste
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons tamari
- 1 teaspoon granulated onion
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
- 1 teaspoon cayenne
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1/8 teaspoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon salt
Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart saucepot and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Cool and transfer to an airtight container until ready to use.
