Chef notes

This is a great dip for a large crowd to share. The contrast of flavors and textures is so exciting and satisfying. The warm, creamy cheese with sweet brown sugar and crunchy spiced pecans is an unbeatable combo. The flaky pastry crust holds everything together and adds an extra indulgent layer of buttery goodness to the dish.

Use my Smoky Spiced Pecans in this recipe.

Technique tip: If you don't have a rolling pin, try using a soup can to roll the pastry out.

Swap option: To make this gluten-free, omit the puffed pastry and bake the brie until warm, melted and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 (19-ounce) wheel brie
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Smoky Spiced Pecans (recipe linked above)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • crackers, for serving

Preparation

1.

Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2.

Remove brie from package and cut off the top rind off the brie wheel.

3.

Top the brie with brown sugar, nuts and drizzle with honey.

4.

Using a floured rolling pin on a floured surface, roll out puff pastry into about a 10-inch square.

5.

Place brie in the center of the pastry and fold up to cover the brie completely.

6.

Brush egg over the outside of the pastry.

7.

Cook in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

8.

Remove from oven and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes. Serve with your favorite crackers.
