Martha Stewart can make absolutely anything. So when it comes to sandwiches, she certainly knows a thing or two about amazing ingredients. Her absolute favorite sandwich in the world isn't a grilled cheese (though she makes a killer one with mayo), rather it's a simple but decadent combo of Iberian ham, mozzarella and her "secret sauce": red pepper mayo.
Oh, and homemade mayo is best, of course.
- Brioche bun
- Red pepper mayonnaise
- Dijon mustard
- Mozzarella, sliced
- Baby romaine lettuce
- Iberian ham (or jamón ibérico)
Slice the brioche bun in half. Spread one half liberally with red pepper mayo (if you don't have any on hand, you can make it simply by mixing mayonnaise and red pepper relish — about 1 tablespoon of relish for every 3 tablespoons of mayo). Spread a little Dijon mustard on the other bun.
Put a piece of mozzarella on each half. Pile one bun with a couple pieces of lettuce, top with all the Iberian ham your heart desires and top with the other bun.
Cut down the middle and enjoy!
