Chef notes
There is something so delicious about the syrup that is created when you add sugar to strawberries. The sugar draws out the natural juices in the berries, making for a fruity, syrupy treat. A spoonful of these strawberries will be delicious over ice cream, yogurt, cheesecake or pie. Try this technique with any other type of berry such as blueberry or raspberries; better yet, use a combination of all three for a mixed berry topping.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Preparation
In a medium bowl, combine strawberries and sugar.
Let stand at room temperature until juices are released, at least 30 minutes to overnight
