Chef notes

The cinnamon stick gives this classic holiday libation its signature flavor and adding fresh ginger to the mix just take this warming drink to the next level. 

Ingredients

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger
  • Zest and juice from 1 orange
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 star anise pods
  • 4 ounces bourbon
  • Orange slices, for garnish

Preparation

1.

Add all ingredient, except bourbon, into a pot and simmer gently for 10 minutes.

Add in bourbon to taste.  

3.

 Ladle the drink into a tall glass mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick, one whole star anise floater and an orange slice
