- 1 package Kool-Aid (for scent and color)
Chef notes
Who doesn't love playdough?! I've always heard about making your own, but I thought it was going to be too complicated. Our amazing nanny shared her recipe with me, and I was blown away with how simple it is! The best thing is that it won't dry out like the stuff in the yellow containers. Plus, it's 100% kid friendly (and edible, although most kids don't really care for the salty flavor!).
Technique tip: Mix the color into the dough by adding a drop of color into a zip-top bag and squish it around. This will keep your hands free of stains!
Swap option: Kool-aid is good for color and scent but you can easily use food coloring or natural dyes. If you use food coloring in place of the Kool-Aid, mix the color in with the water
Preparation
Mix all ingredients until a dough forms and then knead with your hands. Tint to desired shade.
Store in air-tight containers or bags to preserve freshness.
