Store-bought donuts make the perfect blank canvas for creating these adorable treats! Technique tip: Use forks to dip the donuts, this will help prevent finger smudges.
Swap option: Skip the dipping and use melted chocolate to glue the faces on.
For the doughnuts:
In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup powdered sugar with 4 teaspoons hot water. Tint black with the gel food color. Then working one at a time, use a fork to dip tops of donuts in icing, tapping off excess. Transfer to a wire rack set over a baking sheet, iced side up.
For the witch:
Coat the chip in the black icing and set on wire rack for 5 minutes to dry slightly. Once dry use a toothpick to secure to donut. Cut a small strip of licorice and place at base of bugle for hat brim. Place the cashew in center of doughnut for nose and use a little icing to glue green M&M for wart. Cut a small strip red licorice and place for mouth. For hair break chow mein noodles into 3/4-inch lengths and stick on icing.
For the crow:
Break 3 chow mein noodles into 1-inch pieces and place for hair. Place googly eyes underneath. Place a candy corn, pointed side down for nose in center of donut. Stick sunflower seeds for feet and halved chocolate disks for wings.
For the spider:
Cut pretzel rounds in half and gently press into donut for legs. Place M&M's for eyes.
For the owl:
Cut licorice on a diagonal to create eyebrows and place at top of donut for eyebrows. Slice open mini Oreo's and place cream-sides on donut for eyes. Top eyes with chocolate chips (flat side up) for pupils. Place cashew in center for nose. Place sunflower seeds for feet and sliced almonds for wings.
For the ghost:
Combine remaining 1/4 cup powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon hot water in small bowl. Place remaining donut on wire rack and spoon over white glaze to coat. Top with chocolate chips (flat sides up) for eyes.
