Chef notes

This doubles as a drink and dessert! Elvis' favorite classic combo of peanut butter, banana and bacon gets turned into an intensely indulgent milkshake.

Technique tip: Make the bacon way ahead of time but hide it so no one eats it before the party. Use foil to line the pan so cleanup is easy.

Swap option: If you want to make this boozy, add some rum.

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 3 large scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1/2 banana, ideally frozen
  • 1/4 cup milk (any kind works)
  • whipped cream

First, make the bacon garnish: Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a baking sheet with foil and set aside.

In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Dip the bacon in the sugar mixture and coat completely on all sides. Twist each piece and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until the bacon is crisp and the sugar is bubbly.

Remove the bacon from the oven and transfer to a clean piece of foil to cool and harden. Set aside.

While the bacon is cooling, make the mocktail.

Add the ice cream, peanut butter, banana and milk to the blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if needed.

Transfer to a large cup, top with whipped cream and stir with the candied bacon stick. Serve immediately.
