This recipe was the idea of a little girl who challenged me to make brownies colorful. Bright swirls of multicolored batter along with edible glitter makes these treats whimsical, cheerful and delicious.
Technique tip: This recipe really works best with butter. Using a different fat will cause the ratios to change.
Preheat oven to 350 F. Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper and cooking spray.2.
In a large bowl, melt your white chocolate and butter over a double boiler, or in the microwave together in 15 second increments (stirring with a rubber spatula between every increment).3.
Stir in sugar, salt and vanilla until well-combined.4.
Add eggs and stir well.5.
Gradually add the flour to the batter, stirring until completely combined.6.
Separate the batter into 3-5 bowls, depending on how many colors you want to make. Stir a few drops of color into each bowl until you have the colors you want.7.
Scrape each color into its own piping bag. Using a rubber spatula, transfer each batter color into its own piping bag.8.
Cut the tip off each bag and then pipe the colors into the baking pan. You can pipe in straight lines, squiggles, whatever you want, just remember that you are going to cut the brownies up so make sure that every brownie gets all the colors!9.
Bake at for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.10.
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan, then cut them into squares and drizzle top with melted white chocolate and edible glitter.11.
Allow the bars to set until the chocolate hardens and the magic works.
