Ingredients

Ingredients
  • ½ loaf sandwich bread cut into roughly ½-inch cubes (2½ cups)
  • ¼ melted unscented coconut oil
  • 3 sage leaves, torn
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Chef notes

Home made herb-scented croutons are so much better than store bought, and going the extra distance adds the love.

    Preparation

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a medium bowl, toss together the bread, oil, sage, oregano, and salt, and season with pepper. Spread out the seasoned bread on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake, stirring halfway through, until the croutons are golden, about 12 minutes. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 3 minutes before serving. The croutons will keep in an airtight container for two days.
