Give your waffles a fall twist with this easy cinnamon-apple topping.
In a sauté pan, melt butter and toss in sliced apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar and lemon zest and cook until apples are just tender. Top waffles with apples, mascarpone, pecans, and maple syrup. (You could omit the sugar if you don't want it too sweet. The syrup on top will make up for it!)
