Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
- Leaves from 1 sprig of thyme (optional)
- Cherry or skewered strawberry hearts, for garnish
Chef notes
Most of the time pink drinks are perceived as sweet, garnering their color from either cranberry juice or pomegranate juice. But this cherry Manhattan is just the right amount of sweet; it's the ideal cocktail for your Valentine’s Day clink.
The cocktail is cherry flavored but I’ve garnished it with strawberry hearts for two reasons. First, fresh cherries aren’t in season, and second, it was much easier to cut hearts out of large juicy strawberries than it would be a from small frozen cherries.
Preparation
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and give it a heavy shake to break up the preserves. Pour into a glass filled with ice and garnish with a fresh cherry or, for this holiday, two skewered strawberry hearts.
