Ingredients

  • 1 blood orange
  • 1/2 lime, cut into wedges
  • 2 sprigs rosemary, plus more for garnish
  • 1 cup Pinot Grigio or other dry white wine
  • 1 cup blood orange soda (like San Pellegrino or the store brands at Wegmans and Albertsons)
  • Chef notes

I’m all about refreshing, summery cocktails. And this one, with dry white wine, juicy blood orange and blood orange soda hits the nail on the head. When garnished with a pretty sprig of rosemary and a slice of scarlet citrus, it’s the perfect welcome drink at a dinner party.

    Special equipment: Muddler

Swap option: Use mint instead of rosemary.

    Preparation

    1.

Halve the blood orange. Cut one half into 4 wedges and the remaining half into half moons. The half moons will be garnishes.

    2.

Place the blood orange wedges, lime wedges and rosemary into a cocktail shaker.

    3.

Using a muddler, mash the contents to release the juices from the citrus and the oils from the rosemary.

    4.

Add the wine and stir to combine.

    5.

Stain the mixture into two stemless wine glasses.

    6.

Add a half cup of the blood orange soda to each glass.

    7.

Fill the glass with ice and garnish with the blood orange half moons and a sprig of rosemary.
