Ingredients

For the banana bread pudding:
  • 1 loaf french bread/baguette
  • 1/4 pound melted butter
  • 3 pound each eggs
  • 3 cup milk
  • 1 cup half-and-half or heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup diced banana
  • For the Bananas Foster sauce:
  • 1 loaf french bread/baguette
  • 1/4 pound melted butter
  • 3 pound each eggs
  • 3 cup milk
  • 1 cup half-and-half or heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup diced banana
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoon each ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • Preparation

    Baking Directions:

    To make the banana bread pudding:Cut bread into half-inch squares.

    Pour melted butter over bread.

    Mix all ingredients and pour over bread.

    Allow to soak for 30 minutes.

    Pour into a buttered pan and bake at 350 degrees until desired doneness.

    To make the sauce:Sauté sliced bananas in butter.

    Add cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg.

    When sugar has melted, add rum away from flame.

    (Don't start a fire!) Add orange juice and salt.
