Ingredients
- 2 croissants
- 1/4 cup Nutella or other hazelnut chocolate spread
- 2 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1 firm but ripe banana, sliced diagonally
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
Chef notes
This knock-out dessert delivers a one-two punch with only 5 ingredients. It also doubles as a super–deluxe breakfast. Substitute the bananas with pineapple and the Nutella with dulce de leche for an awesome variation!
Preparation
1.Preheat the broiler. Split the croissants in half and toast, cut sides up until golden, about 2 minutes. Spread the Nutella on the toasted sides.
2.In a medium nonstick skillet, cook the bacon over moderately high heat until crispy, about 7 minutes. Drain on paper towels and break each in half. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of the bacon fat and add the bananas and sugar. Cook turning once, until caramelized all over, about 2 minutes. Arrange the bananas on the bottom halves of the croissants and top with bacon. Close the croissants and serve right away.
